The Club

MNW is a club for people who enjoy marshalling at motorcycle road racing events. We marshal at frequent meetings at various circuits in the northwest – Aintree in Liverpool, Oulton Park in Cheshire, Three Sisters near Wigan, and some further afield, such as Ty Croes on Anglesey and Donington Park near Derby. MNW is affiliated to the North Western Centre of the ACU.

Sprint

We also organise the Hoghton Tower Sprint (between Preston and Blackburn) on behalf of the North Western Centre and we are very proud that we are the only marshals club that runs an event.

Club Meetings

These are held at 8:00 pm on the second Thursday of each month at The Crown, 1 Chorley New Road, Horwich, Bolton BLQ 7QJ, (https://www.joseph-holt.com/pubs/view/crown), all are welcome to attend. Our meetings always cover times and arrangements for forthcoming events (including how to get tickets eg for Oulton), these are in the minutes circulated to all members, and we also publish a list of the season’s events early in the year.

Membership

Membership of MNW is a nominal £2 a year and this gets you a copy of the minutes of each of our monthly meetings, quite apart from the excellent company!

Marshalling

Marshals have the best view of racing and one of the toughest jobs in the sport. There are few other jobs that give you such a close up look at the racing, the riders and their skill. The hours can be long, the weather inhospitable, but the rewards are more than worth it.

Anyone can volunteer to be a marshal, you don’t have to be an Olympic athlete, but some level of fitness does help. As long as you can listen to instructions and be part of a team, you have nothing to fear.

If you are new to marshalling we can give you lots of information about what is involved, what we actually do, what to wear, where to go etc, also on how to get involved, organisations to know, where and when to go, getting training etc.
